<p>My father -- NYC reporter -- told story that after long-ago
redesign of New York Post (then a broadsheet, not tabloid) --
after a while (weeks, at least) someone inquired what the gag was
about split-sheet (first page second section) heading. Inspection
revealed it to be</p>
<p>New Pork Yost</p>
<p>...but I've never been able to confirm this. Maybe Newseum can
help or a trial subscription to newspapers.com.</p>
<p>I used to collect occasional WaPo typos because they were
unusual, no longer. Towards end of my freelancing for Post --
maybe 2010 -- editor warned me to take extra care in submissions
because copy desk had been greatly reduced.<br>

jump out at people, and you would think there are
multiple layers of editorial to catch this.</p>

just grin and bear it or do they actually hire more
editors?</p>
