<p>My grandfather spelled our name Wiener, when he came to the country. His brother, my Uncle Ike, spelled it Weiner. But their real name was Viprinsky. Wiener/Weiner was the name given to the first of them (I'm not sure which arrived before the other) by the immigration officer processing him. I suppose Viprinsky was too difficult to spell.</p>
