We are not the only Americans, and to believe we are is haute
snootieness, puffed-chest privilege. I'm an American. When I'm
here in the US, no point of reference is necessary as American
feces have no scent!

But there are also the Norte Americanos, mi amigos de Nuevo
Mexico y Arizona y Texas y Colorado. They were here before my
entire gene pool arrived.

At the point of arrival of my entire gene pool, my brother and I
have traced all embarkation points. They are: Scotland, Ireland,
England via Canada, and Germany. I also have multiple
citizenships, including being a Hoosier.

Two doors down is a double-American, from Brasil. Next door is a
Thai-American.

The ambiguity of being an American is: We're all in this
hemisphere. Being a US Citizen, I am an American, but at the radio
station where I volunteer, one of the DJs is not an American but
is a member of the Navajo nation, a native people. She is a US
citizen, but refuses to be an American, although one of her great
grandfathers is German. She can move to Germany, this great
grandfather being very well documented, and apply for EU
citizenship. She's considered this but she likes her annual trip
to the sweat lodge.
