A northeasterner looking for a place to a retire might end up</div><div>choosing Broward County for the reason that their libraries are so excellent - and so gracious/welcoming. Boom -- a new county resident and expanded tax base.</div><div><br data-mce-bogus="1"></div><div> Methinks there is not going to be a lot of abuse of people outside Broward County getting a Broward County library card. That library systems seems to be on top</div><div>of monitoring such stats.</div><div><br data-mce-bogus="1"></div><div> Here in the town where I work -- Takoma Park, Maryland -- I would say that 20 to 30 percent of residents do not have a library card -- even though they pay my salary</div><div>with their taxes.
