Georgia has long had early voting because it used to have paper ballots. We
voted at the DeKalb County offices on Memorial Drive, but the nearby Bessie
Branham Park had a week of in-person early voting. Our regular polling
place is Israel Baptist Church, a black congregation that caused the whole
neighborhood to switch color after the white Methodist congregation there
sold out in 1967.

I have been told we were the first white, straight couple to move south of
the MARTA, in 1983, but Kirkwood has since gentrified and is majority
white. Our previous state rep was Stacey Abrams, now candidate for
Governor. Our current state rep is Bee Nguyen.
