Fascinating first chapter, and it helps explain one of his capabilities which so impressed me when I first experienced it.

I had met him a few times when he set up and later visited IDC Canada, and I eventually became part of the IDG family in the late '80s, but it was in Beijing in '88 when he gave out gifts to 80 or so publishers and editors, and offered a rhyme for each one, without any notes or prompts. Really impressive, to go along with a lifetime of impressive achievements.

Future Forward, the business book on IDG's late founder and CEO Pat McGovern, just came out and author Glenn Rifkin is going on a book tour. I plan on seeing him when he's in the Bay Area next week (he's based in the Boston area). 

 

It looks like a great book from the excerpts I've seen, though I'm sure it doesn't hurt that Pat has a special connection to most anyone who worked at IDG.
