I agree. It's terrible. But it should send a lesson to all writers, right
down to the lowest j-school.
Don't give your loyalty to a publisher. Be your own boss. We all need to be
free agents.
I didn't do that in my career, and I've paid a price, in lost readers, and
lost opportunities. I think all of us have. We need to stop doing it.
