I forget who it was, but a PR person pulled that with me about a year ago. I said, "OK, but if your firm loses this contract or you're on vacation when I need to get a quote, I'm calling your biggest competitor for that quote." Client spoke up with his email address immediately.

Sometimes I’m successful when I say “well, I would still like to have it as a backup” or something to that effect, but some of them are so damn aggressive and then the source is ultimately torn over what to do. 

 

And then they “circle back” with me. They all use that term…is there some sort of requisite PR-speak course they all take? Grrrrrrrrr.
