I check these every year or so, too. This year, I discovered that NY State was holding about $100 from a company that was unable to find me to send me a check.
The company: Google. No, I’m not kidding.

I had no idea this was a thing, thank you to whoever recommended it here.
So if you want to have fun, go check out the Unclaimed Property websites of all your current and former states of residence. I just found out NJ owes me $1800 and my grandmother who died in 1990 has two bank accounts at Chase. And NY owes me an unspecified amount.
