[Ipg-smz] The Washington Post: Born in the age of high hopes, the Newseum dies in the days of fake news

I'm local to it, enjoyed when it was free in Rosslyn, VA (and loaned
them my reporter father's WW II artifacts for war reporting exhibit),
joined and remained a member in DC. Attended plenty
author/politician/journalist presentations plus various conferences in
the very-definitely plush venue. There've been several retrenchments
over the years -- staff cuts, etc. -- while apparently still having
pampered executives. It'll supposedly continue in some form in 2020 --
they're still seeking membership renewals and promising events and other
benefits as yet unnamed.

There could have been worse uses for the building than Johns Hopkins --
e.g., Trump Hotel II or enlarged Hobby Lobby shrine -- but it's a shame
to lose it as a showcase public space.
