+1 what Logan said.
I had an editor say he thought I hadn’t researched my topic and then when I went graph by graph with him… he liked all the content. Said it was fine. Then he re-wrote the intro to include stuff I didn’t want there, including an inaccuracy, which still hasn’t been corrected. Bummer.
Shelf it for a day or two and then come back with fresh energy.

I’ve felt that way about pieces that everyone else liked, and turned in ones that I thought were very well done that received little attention, or had some editor completely rearrange.

I'm a little cranky today because I'm finishing up a piece and it is not my best work. I know, when you write at the volume we do, about 50% of our stuff will not be our best work because that is how averages work - what about about when you know something is bottom 25%?
It's easy for me to pick a fight about an AI tool or some nits about a social movement instead of working on improving my own game.
For now I'll put it on the shelf and revisit it in a day or three with fresh eyes.
Does anyone else have ideas with how to deal with this sort of situation?
