[Ipg-smz] I'm getting gigabit fiber to my desk at work - yay!

Ya know, my download speed tests at 11.2Mbps (I pay for 10) with an
upload speed of 8.28Mbps (I pay for, I think, 3 or 4).

Here's the thing. The television in the living room is currently on,
perfectly streaming one of the local TV stations using YouTube TV
because my roommate likes to have the TV on all the time. Meanwhile,
roommate is in her room watching YouTube videos, and I'm in my office
working away at my computer using the internet for research, playing the
occasional video, and almost always streaming music.

Everything works perfectly. TV is fine, no jerking or buffering, YouTube
on my desktop also works perfectly, even with the TV in the living room
streaming, and my roommate streaming YouTube on her Wi-Fi connected
phone at the same time.

With the local co/op phone company, I could up our download speed to
100Mbps for very little money, but I don't see why I would or why the
average family would need anything faster than what I have now.

I have people tell me that they have 20Mbps connections and that it's
barely useful to them, and when I ask them what they're doing online,
they're doing much less than we are at my house.

I don't get it.
