I learned to read using MAD magazine. My personal and cultural identity are closely wrapped up with that magazine.

MAD magazine may stop publishing, but MAD itself is eternal. It is the wind blowing thru the trees, it is the 
whoopee cushion on your co-workers chair, it is the prank pulled off with great flair. 

We are a better nation -- a better world -- because of MAD magazine. MAD took an amorphous blob 
of a country and made it into a less amorphous blob of a country. It was the precursor of all progenitors.
