[Ipg-smz] Quantum computing question for my next short story

Hi Folks:
I'd like your help with the short story I'll be writing this month. The
point of view character is an AI that may be self-aware. Or it may be
simply great at imitating what is expected of a self-aware individual.
It has access to an enormous library, which it is studying (at blazing
speeds, of course)
My instinct is to make it a quantum computer. I especially like the
acronymic name I can then give it -- Saqi --
Self-Aware-Quantum-Intelligence. The name is also one that has been used
by Urdu poets in reference to the alter ego, or the lover, or God
(though it is also translated as bartender---huh?).
But the fact is that I have never covered quantum computers, and I
haven't been following the subject. So I don't know their current status
and abilities or projections regarding their potential. I'd very much
appreciate any links to articles any of you have written, or to
resources of information about quantum computers. And, of course, I'd
love to hear your insights and suggestions.
I haven't yet put the story into a time period, but I would like it to
be very near future if possible.
Thanks, Sally
