I'm no expert, but in my mind it has to do with the algorithms used. Some problems can be attacked well with quantum computers -- viz. factorization via Shor's algorithm. But others have not yet been cracked. 

But I think it's safe to say that these are early days. Many more algorithms will be adapted for quantum computing, including those used in AI learning. When will quantum AI be truly viable? Ask an expert.
