I've become a fan of http://flights.google.com <http://flights.google.com/> . Beware of baggage limitations on "Economy Light" fares; visit the airline's site to confirm.

But in my experience, all the sites get pretty much the same deals. Truly off-the-books bargains are rare. It comes down to which interface/awards program/corporation you prefer.

The places you *might* do better are those that don't drink from that stream, because their business models are truly different. Hotwire comes to mind: you buy a class of product (two-star motel room in X neighborhood), and only find out the supplier after the deal is completed (Holiday Inn Express in Worthington). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opaque_travel_inventory <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opaque_travel_inventory>

Oh, and http://wanderu.com <http://wanderu.com/> is gerat for land-based travel (buses and trains).
