When I was young, I considered Thomas Alva Editor to be my idol. It
wasn't until later (while living in New Jersey) that I found out just
despicable the man was. Edison didn't invent the electric light bulb as
we know it, it was one of his lab assistants that suggested putting the
filament in a vacuum. As I dug deeper, I found out how much he hogged
the credit, to the detriment of the people who worked for him.
Credit theft was, and is, nothing new. It continues today in academia.
