Subject: [Ipg-smz] Scam Alert
Got an email from a friend today, and I'm quoting HIS email to me:
Today we got an email from someone claiming to be “Peggy Fowler”. It requested that we help her buy an iTunes gift card, because she was going on a time sensitive two day trip, and promised to repay us when she returned.
He tried to forward the email to me but his system refused to forward it.
Now yes, Peggy was my wife, but she died two years ago and hasn't sent out an email since, to my knowledge.
Shortly after that, I got a phone call from a friend out in Ohio asking for Peggy.
After I gave him the sad news he explained why he'd called, he'd gotten the same sort of email, which didn't pass his sniff test.
He was smart enough to ask for Peggy's husband's name, which torpedoed the scam.
The vultures gather. I don't see much I can do to shoot them down.
