Yes. Writing was on paper, we had REALLY HARD deadlines. We had weekly 
pitch meetings. The remote communications used MCIMail and 1200 baud 
modems, photos were taken on FILM. The editors dealt with word counts.

We carried pagers.

A lot of us did it. We all used the tools that were available at the 
time -- and we still do.
