[Ipg-smz] Fox News decides to forgo in your face death counts ...

Some interesting decisions being made in newsrooms. CNN has consistently
devoted about 1/5 of the screen to Coronavirus stats - number of cases and
number of deaths worldwide in the U.S. and worldwide.
MSNBC has something similar, but it rotates a mix of different stats.
Fox News, consistent with its early soft-pedaling of the crisis, did not
follow suit until a few weeks ago when it starting devoting an even bigger
portion of the screen to similar stats. Now I notice it's given that up and
is going back to full screen (save for the ticker of more general news at
the bottom of the screen that's always been there).
While I confess to a morbid interest (and legitimate concern!) in seeing
the stats, I think Fox News is making the better call. We don't need a
constant, running count of how bad things are. We already know. if there's
a dramatic uptick it will be reported on the main screen as well as the
regular news ticker.
