[Ipg-smz] Flu shot made my friend sick - any advice?

One of the reasons that there are so many ‘unsupported superstitions’ about flu shots is that anyone who has an atypical response to a flu shot, or a medical test, or a treatment is labeled a hypochondriac by the doctors and health insurance organizations that can’t be bothered to look for the underlying cause. Anything that doesn’t fit into their profit-driven world view is minimized and labeled as an attempt to get attention or score painkillers or anything other than an attempt to get real treatment for the real and often painful symptoms that are afflicting the patient.

Thanks a lot Phil. Yes, that’s what is concerning; he says he’s felt this way for a week. I have seen articles online that confirm your experience of symptoms lasting a few days; but not longer.

David, I have first hand experience with this. A flu shot gives you a weakened dose of live flu. I have had some miserable days the day after getting a flu shot, but I'm usually back on my feet within three days.

That's why I try to always get my flu shot on a Friday.

A friend of mine who recently moved to a very rural part of New Hampshire is sick. I hadn't talked to him in a few weeks and found out earlier today that he's been sick for over a week starting the day after he got a flu shot. Doctors he's seen insist it has "nothing" to do with the flu shot, but have no idea what's wrong with him. The main system is he feels achy and nauseous all the time. A number of his other friends have told him anecdotally that people get sick from flu shots all the time. I have no idea.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and found anything useful in terms of curing or dealing with it.

Much appreciated.
