We have made a felony conviction a life sentence.

I don't know why we don't see that as a problem.

I have a great-nephew. He joined the army. He got a duplicitous girlfriend.
She left her hyperactive toddler with him. He dropped the kid. The kid died.

My great-nephew was sentenced, at age 19, to 15 years hard time.

He'll neve have a life. He might as well be dead.

And this happens, routinely, to thousands of people, every day.

An incredibly high percentage of these people are African American.

Most of my neighborfs are African American.

Lifetime felonies are something that strike me personally. They make me
angry. They're also an economic waste. We're treating people in this
country the way we treat the Earth. We're trashing them.
