[Ipg-smz] [Ipg-l] Linux Journal Shuts Down

Greetings, all.

I'm saddened by the news. I've written a lot of articles for Linux Journal over the years and they've always been good to me, even when I got extremely drunk at their parties or plied their readers with alcohol. Of the people on this list, I probably have the longest (or close to it) history with the publication, so it's hard to see the magazine die yet again. It's also sad because it's yet another publication following so many others into extinction. 

This is why we have archive.org, I suppose. Given how many magazines we've lost, and will lose, perhaps the Internet Archive is where we should stand together for the final battle.

Bryan Lunduke. He's been around forever, both as a writer, and as Richi 
mentioned, as a popular speaker at open source conferences. He wrote a 
column "The Linux Tycoon" for years -- for NetworkWorld, I believe -- 
and in the last couple of years, at least until he joined LJ, produced 
and hosted a videocast that seemed to get a lot of traffic.

He's definitely not for everyone's taste, but he's always an interesting 
read.

And yes, this is the second time that LJ ceased publication. Whey 
announced in 2017 that they were shutting down, but immediately an angel 
showed up brought money and a new business plan to play.

I wrote a couple of articles for them when they resumed publication, and 
only quit writing because my day job doesn't leave me the time. 
Otherwise, I'd still be writing for them today. They paid reasonably 
well and paid on time.
