[Ipg-smz] We need an alternative to our existing lists

I obtain large value from the IPG lists and community. Count me in for $125/year contribution, if we choose to go with a paid list service. Fine with me, too, if others might choose to contribute or not contribute.

Ah, the eternal problem. If we want it free, then we must understand and accept that the cost of free is being paid elsewhere and in some other way. Note that I'm not making moral or ethical judgements here. I'm only saying that Google offers its Groups fora (or forums) free at the cost of the end users surrendering some amount of privacy, as a starting point.
If we don't want to associate with a company in terms of maintaining this list, then perhaps we need to find a way to rent a VPS somewhere, load up and maintain software, of which there is a hell of a lot, and of course, find a way to pay for it.
Would those who are concerned about accepting the gilded cage of a corporate benefactor/ruler be willing to pony up a few dollars a month to maintain the list?

I'll be behind Joe. Google is not your friend, it is your rapist.

As it happens we have an IPG Slack, but it seldom gets used.
I don't find real-time group chat to be all that helpful in any case. I
can't see these being useful for what--should be anyway--thoughtful
online conversations.
