We will all pray that the weather gods are kind, then, so you can get all of the details on this lovely new gig. You won’t have Phoenix temperatures, I promise – you’ll even have to wear socks!

It’s 2 below zero (F) in Boston today, though it’s supposed to hit a tropical 6 above zero on Monday there. You might need a sweater ….

I know that I can attract IPG attention by saying the magic words, “freelancer budget.” :-)

The short answer is that I don’t have details yet. The trip to Boston is to meet with New Client on Monday and launch the project. I aim to spend Monday identifying what they want, how the site should be organized, what sort of content and at what publication frequency, etc. (The visit with IPG at The Smoke Shop BBQ in Kendall Square is just a reward to myself, and also a way to avoid terminal jet lag.)

I should also take this moment to publicly thank Alan Z for his long-ago advice to build “in person time” with any new client. That’s why I insisted a “launch day” be in the budget. On reflection, I realized that my best, long term gigs all were with people whom I’d met in person early in the project. (In fact, this gig came to me from the past CMO of SmartBear, with whom I met at project launch back in 2012. Past CMO — for whom I’ve worked elsewhere — recommended me to this guy.) So here’s a public Thanks, Alan!

Esther, I may have missed something earlier in the thread, but what can you share about new client with this delightful freelance budget? What do you need? What topics are of interest? What is the readership/audience like in terms of titles and company size and whatnot?
