[Ipg-smz] Antenna

Hi there...at the other end of the spectrum, can either of you recommend a
good primer on ham radio for a complete newbie? I'm giving thought to
buying some relatively simple equipment for disaster preparedness
(primarily to be able to reach my family on the island if I'm on the
mainland during an earthquake, so 15-20 mile range is all I'd need).
