I received an email recently from a longtime reader. "I miss your writing," it said. I miss writing too, and I miss engaging with all of you. It's been a while since you heard from me, but I wanted to explain my hiatus and give you an update on what I've been up to.

Last year I decided to start Recount Media (https://therecount.com/?mc_cid=6966fa6a82&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) with my dear friend and frequent co-conspirator John Heilemann. This new venture is an entirely new approach to video about politics. It’s been all-consuming getting ready for our public debut, and this past year has flown by. But our first product is now in beta, and I’d love you to try it out. It’s called The Recount (https://therecount.com/?mc_cid=6966fa6a82&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) , and among other things, it features a sophisticated, short-form summary of the day’s top political stories in 5 minutes or less. I hope it will help reinvent how you watch the news — it’s certainly done that for me.

While Recount Media is my seventh company, it’s my first foray into politics. You might be wondering how politics has any connection to my tech-related ventures of the past, including NewCo, Sovrn, or LiveRamp/Acxiom. It’s a valid question, and to explain my answer, I returned to writing. Please give my newest article a read:
