[Ipg-smz] Why I like Apple

Mac help needed.

Seven years ago, my son gave me a Garmin Nuvi for Christmas from his first
earnings as an intern. We stopped using it about four years ago when we
upgraded our vehicle and didn't need an external GPS anymore. Today when
cleaning my old minivan for my daughter to use in college (yeah she doesn't
care it's a minivan), I figured I'd stick that ole Garmin on the dash just
for old time sake. I thought I'd update the software on the darn thing
since it's so old. I connected it to my daughter's Macbook so I could
upgrade the maps software on it.

Turns out that in order to upgrade the app I first need to be on OS X
version 10.11 or higher, which my daughter is not on because she apparently
never felt the need to upgrade. [Yes, I know, shame on her!!] To cut a long
story short, I've spent the last couple of hours trying to upgrade her OS
from 10.10.5 to whatever the heck comes next and I've just not been able to
do that. I can't upgrade to any new version of Mac OS X without first
moving to 10.11 and I can't seem to find a way to do it. I can't use the
App Store because I need 10.6.6 or greater. To the Mac experts out there,
this probably isn't a big deal. To me, it's plain exasperating. Any help is
much appreciated.
